Cost-effective harvesting with pedestals

We were trying to find a simple and affordable way to reach the higher parts of the tree without adding complexity and costs. A machine equipped with pedestals on both sides can be used by up to four people at the same time (two at the top and two at the bottom).
In some cases, people can reach the whole tree — for example in young orchards, Guyot systems, or on slopes over 20%. With slope compensation, the base lifts on the downhill side, so the pedestals end up higher and workers can reach even more when picking downwards. In general, the goal was to create something easy and practical that brings value.

Multiple picking cycles

The pedestal setup works well when the machine needs to be moved often between fields. It can be transported easily in and around the orchards and does not damage the soil. In orchards where several picking rounds are needed, the right level can be reached at the right time without blocking a lifting platform.

Support for lifting platforms

Lifting platforms are often fully busy during peak harvest, especially when the upper part of the tree ripens in several fields at the same time. With harvesting pedestals, part of the work in the middle and higher areas can be done without using the platform. Some farmers use the pedestals for the mid section, so the platform is only needed for the last area at the very top. This helps avoid unnecessary trips, changes, or delays.

Two versions: medium area and higher area

We noticed that not everyone needs the same height, so we made two fixed versions. Some farmers want to reach as high as possible (higher area version) to maybe even attempt to pick the whole tree, while others only want support for their already existing machines in the middle section (medium area version).

Medium area version

  • Standing height: 0.65-0.85m

  • Tree height reach: approx. 1.50m to 2.70m

  • Suitable tree width / row width: 2.70m to 3.40m

Higher area version

  • Standing height: 1.15-1.25m

  • Tree height reach: approx. 2.00m to 3.20m

  • Suitable tree width / row width: 2.70m to 3.40m

FAQs

Very simple: insert the base of the ladders into the sides of the machine's plate and fix them at the points indicated using the screws provided. Vuolà in 5 minutes you have assembled your ladders.
There are 2 possibilities: Either the person picking at the top passes the small box down a step, while the person picking at the bottom takes the box from them and then empties it into the large box. If the person at the top wants to empty the box themselves, they can take the small box, walk down the ladder and empty the small box directly into the large box.
